My clinical doctoral (DAOM) research and Capstone Project in 2016, was on “The Role of Traditional Chinese Medicine in treating Pharmaceutical Induced Phlegm conditions.”

I completed my M.A. (English Literature) in 1977 at the University of Poona, India.

I Have Been In Private Practice For 34 Years In The Bay Area Of San Francisco

I received my Doctorate in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (DAOM) Dec. 2016 from the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine (ACTCM @ CIIS), San Francisco.

After obtaining my California State Licensure in Acupuncture from ACTCM in 1986, I did my internship at the Hunan College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Changsha, Hunan, P.R.C, with rotations in internal medicine, ob-gyn, pediatrics, and acupuncture departments.

Skilled Hands & Caring Heart

I have worked as an acupuncturist in the chronic pain department of the Kaiser Permanente hospital in San Francisco and at The Iris Center for HIV positive women in recovery along with my private practice.

I have volunteered my services as a practitioner at the

  • Haight- Ashbury Free Medical clinic
  • Charlotte Maxwell Complementary Medical Clinic for women with cancer
  • Bay View Hunter’s Point substance abuse services clinic
  • Bay Area Veterans Acupuncture Clinic (BAYVAC) in San Francisco

Seminars and Presentations

In 2015, I was invited by the Wiener Schule Für Traditionelle Chinesishe Medizin and Ärzte für Akupunktur in Vienna, Austria, to teach medical doctors the Traditional Chinese Medicine modalities used in the treatment of “Knotty Diseases.”

Previously, I have been invited to Vienna, Austria, to present the importance of classical pattern diagnosis in enhancing the immune systems of persons with HIV.

I have also presented at a Women and HIV conference in San Francisco, taught immune support workshops to persons with Hepatitis C and HIV.

I have done a presentation for UC Berkeley students on prescribing Chinese herbs, taught classes to social workers about incorporating acupuncture for substance abuse.

Invited to talk about nutrition for prenatal women at the Wisewoman midwifery services in San Francisco.
